New Patients
Here at Heart Wellness Group we are always accepting new patients. Regardless of whether you are sick or are simply due for a regular check-up, we are happy to welcome you to our office. We know going to the doctor can be a little overwhelming at times, so we are happy to provide you with our new patient forms ahead of time so that you can fill them out prior to your appointment and save you time during your visit.
Dr. Kunal Domakonda, MD, FACC
Dr. Domakonda is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in the treatment and management of heart and vascular disease. He is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology and holds prestigious board certifications in the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, as well as the American Society of Echocardiography. He is trained to read vascular studies and has extensive experience in managing complex cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disorders. He enjoys coaching patients on weight loss and strategies to minimize or prevent heart disease, espousing the idea of, ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’. He thrives on teaching his patients about their heart as well as strategies to live a healthy and complete life. His aim is to create a supportive and nurturing environment for his patients to reach their goals.
A New York City native, Dr. Domakonda was raised in Queens and is fluent in multiple languages. He has varied and evolving interests and enjoys staying active with tennis, the outdoors, and travel.

Christina Lakomski, APRN
Christina is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner joining us with over seven years of experience working in vascular surgery. Christina has taken her passion for patients with vascular disease and dedicated the last year and a half of her practice to formalizing a Limb Preservation Program in the New Britain area. Her love of treating patients with vascular disease has brought her to Heart Wellness Group where she will expand her knowledge in helping to identify and treat complex cardiovascular processes. She is also a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner which marries her love for treating complex medical problems with a holistic approach to care including coaching and educating patients on living healthy lifestyles and optimizing their overall quality of life.
Christina is born and raised in Connecticut. When she is not working, she spends her time with her husband, Joe, and their fur babies hiking and exploring new areas of New England. She is also an avid amateur chef, and you can usually find her meal prepping or trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

Kristen Murusky, APRN
Kristen is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has specialized in the treatment and management of heart and vascular disease since 2019. She has extensive experience managing complex cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disorders and coordinating specialty services to meet patient needs. Kristen also has a background in pulmonary and sleep medicine, which she is deeply passionate about, as she believes strongly in optimizing health from a multidisciplinary and holistic perspective.
Prior to her work as a nurse practitioner, Kristen served as a registered nurse in Emergency Medicine for over a decade. She also worked in psychiatric medicine and mental health, providing care for individuals in treatment for acute psychiatric needs, addiction, eating disorders, and complex trauma. This diverse background allows her to implement a unique professional approach that celebrates patient involvement in strategizing personal healthcare goals while maintaining a strong evidence-based, data-driven structure for patient care.
A Connecticut native, Kristen remains deeply engaged in her community and global social services. She has been an active emergency medical volunteer with the Special Olympics of CT for over ten years and has worked with organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and various domestic shelters. Her favorite experiences include global volunteer work providing disaster relief and medical care in Puerto Rico and Uganda.
Outside of her professional life, Kristen is an avid multi-sport athlete and former captain of the Amity High School Swim team. She has a wanderlust for life and can often be found in the mountains or on the water—whether she is skiing, snowboarding, hiking, or paddleboarding. She is enthusiastic about helping others develop their passions and finding ways to optimize their health and happiness.
